May. 17th, 2004 03:17 pmEeek! Technically, I should still be in the exam now, but I'm already back on the computer (what, you didn't think I was posting this from a mobile did you? =;)). In case you haven't figured it out yet, I left early. I don't think the first exam went too bad, although there's something slightly disconcerting about finishing a 2 hour exam paper in 45 minutes. =:o I was chuffed to know the answer to the question 'What is Ethnology?' though. It was only mentioned as a passing comment in a tiny sentence in the notes, but I'd specifically learned that word off by heart as it was one of those things where I went 'I just know he's gonna ask a question about that'. Ah well, a week now to revise for the next two exams.
And for anyone else who has had exams today, I hope they all went well for you. =:)

Date: 2004-05-17 08:03 am (UTC)I take it this wasn't an exam in programming then! =:P
I can do that question too! *pings* "The comparative study of races and ethnic groups, their characteristics, interaction and origins." (From memory, but not too bad, I think. =:) )
I used to hate finishing exams very early. For one thing, we weren't allowed out early at all (don't ask me why), so it was incredibly boring; and for another there was always that nagging feeling that you'd misread something, and written 200 words where you were supposed to write 1200... =:S

I think this jargon use of "ethnology" is an implied slur. The end-users are being thought of as a primitive tribe to be studied by software anthropologists, who must create their own theories for what the "lusers" need because the customers' own descriptions of their wants cannot be trusted.
