It was all going so well...
Jun. 16th, 2004 10:23 pmHmm... why is the one day of the week I'm out most of the day, loads of people start posting on the WD Yahoo Group meaning I'm not around to see the RSS script was working correctly. Still, everything seemed to be going fine, but then a rather fatal bug was uncovered. When
twosheds posted, the whole thing decided to go on strike. The only thing I can put it down to is that something about the character encoding and the letter 'ü' isn't liked. With the first post it seems it went into the RSS file correctly, but Livejournal's system fell apart at the picking it up stage, and in the most recent one by
jnlldxn which quotes it, it's somehow replaced that character with a load of strange characters (as well as doing some funny things with line returns =:S). Hopefully I can iron out these rather nasty bugs in the script ASAP. You see, this is why I haven't released the script for anyone else to use yet. It just has too many bugs at the moment.

Date: 2004-06-16 03:48 pm (UTC)Well, apart from the two which...um... didn't, and now seem to have vanished off the face of the Earth. =:o The main problem LJ's grabbing script has is that it normally checks every hour (which is how often the script automatically replaces the RSS file), however if ever it finds the tiniest error, LJ decide to suspend checking it again for 3 hours. In that time the feed generating script can have run another twice, causing some posts to be lost. =:\

Oops! I've changed that now. The stupid thing is, I checked the name before posting and had seen there was no underscore... and yet for some unknown reason I still left in the underscore. =:o
