There's something a little surreal when you're watching the national News 24 about snow and they cut to our live correspondent... in Stanley, County Durham... o.o
From a bit of poking about online Stanley has been pretty badly hit, and indeed is supposed to have seen the worst in the North East, which isn't usual (presumably the mention of 'Newcastle' on the news too was therefore just because Stanley isn't big enough to be known nationally).
It's somehow very odd when that happens, though in Bewdley it's usually floods that do bring the reporters. But Consett and Stanley are the two places in Durham I've seen today, and both seem to have at least 10-15cm on the ground.
