Just got thinking whilst on the train back this evening how oddly attached I've grown to Manchester over the years, for a place I used to hate so much. I originally came here in 2003 at the start of uni and save for a brief break spent in Ipswich, I've been here ever since. Oddly though, I originally couldn't stand the city. For all the time I was at uni I was pretty much of the mindset that I loved the uni but hated the place, and indeed people who've known me for some time will remember some of my early years here.

Yet as time has gone on, I've grown to like it. I'm at so few of the Manchester Meets that most furries seem to think I hate the place, but the fact is I'm just not part of the cliques at these meets thus prefer to travel round. I love the place though. Public transport around the city is all so well connected so it's so easy to just go anywhere at any time of the day, and without it costing an arm and a leg. If there's any facility needed, you can pretty much guarantee it's somewhere in the vicinity. You might get some skanky wieirdo people around, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

It's pretty clear just how much I've come to love the place in that I'm actually looking at proper places of my own to live in the city. Whilst there's no guarantee things won't change with jobs and so on, it's highly unlikely I'm going to leave this area again as I just feel so settled here. When coming in on the train it's not a 'ah well, only going to be coming back here for a few more months', but more of a 'ah, home again'. It's funny how things can change in 8 years!

After any stint in Suffolk anywhere would seem better ;p I'm only kidding of course ^^;;;;

I've always been a bit different with Manchester, I fell in love with the place after first moving here out of necessity and I don't think I could ever see myself moving anywhere else in the near future. I do also get the "ah, home again feeling" when pulling into Piccadilly ^_^

Any ideas which areas you're thinking of moving to yet?

Manchester does have something about it doesn't it mate? Grows on you. :)

I miss the city life there, Peterborough doesn't give me the same buzz and communal feel as the rainy city does.
