One huge advantage to never deleting my email archive:-

I still have an easily readable archive of my LJ comments from as far back as 2003. Who still remembers Wimborne ([livejournal.com profile] huskyteer ) and Shelltune [livejournal.com profile] avon_deer)?

I'm glad to say most of these people I still know today. And the really funny thing is despite people frequently pointing to the decline of Livejournal, most of those earliest commenters are all still active on LJ today! :D

Wimborne was my Neopet, whose LJ account mine originally was!

I keep my archive as well, though mine doesn't go back quite as far, since in the old days Yahoo had a storage limit of 6 MB. =:P

"shelltune" is a name I took from a car repair shop in Northampton.

It's always interesting to look back and see our relationships from years ago.

Wimborne! No, I must've only known [livejournal.com profile] huskyteer following renaming/switching.. but I do remember that Shelltune guy. =:)

Meanwhile, I've altered slightly differently - the name's the same, but the species changed along the way. ^_^

Similarly, I never delete my email archive, though I don't keep everything that comes in, especially on mailing lists. LJ comments and messages, though, are always left untouched. And usually responded to, assuming I'm not too brain-dead at the time of reading (eg having just woken up), which sometimes results in me forgetting to respond. (Not often, I hope)
