*gasps* Yep, that's the longest I've ever been out and about in a single day, having set out at 9.30 this morning and only arriving back at 8pm. The worrying thing is, I just can't keep away from the net even for that long. I checked my email multiple times from the wap on my phone (and even replied to one via text), checked my website was working via a friends fancy phone, and even checked my LJ friends list and email properly from a BT Broadband Phonebox. I...I'm not obsessed with the net though, I swear. =;)
Actually I should have been back earlier, but I had something of great importance to do whilst out. Basically it can be summed up as follows; I definitely hate Ice Tea! I already suspected I did despite never having had any. Even so, I went out of my way to try some as I was on a promise to someone that I would, and when I make a promise I do all I can to stick to it. Actually finding this stuff turned out to be much more difficult than expected though. There was no trace in the Newcastle branch of Safeway (which is practically complete changing to Morrisons now =:P), nor in Marks And Spencers. An hourlong trip to Durham (yes, this is how determined I am =;)) finally turned up a bottle of Lipton Lemon Ice Tea in the Safeway there (it's a bigger branch it would seem). As their ads say, I have now tried it, even finishing the whole bottle (I never do things by halves), so I can now happily knock it. It's horrid stuff! =:P Thank you for taking the time to read this public announcement.
(ps - Oh, and just for anyone wondering, no I haven't felt any sudden interest in waxing my legs or dressing in spandex as a result of drinking this stuff. =;))

Date: 2004-07-29 01:49 pm (UTC)Ah well, Ice Tea isn't for everyone, but then I don't really like Lipton's (no I don't expect you to go out and try another brand!).
and I've been drinking ice tea for ages now and I've never felt compelled to dress up in spandex...

Date: 2004-07-29 02:10 pm (UTC)I'm almost sorry I brought it up in the first place.
*snugs you* Sorry? What for? I should hope you aren't as it gave me something interesting to try for a change, even if it wasn't my cup of tea (bad pun intended). Thanks! =:D

Hmm... no mention of the leg-waxing I note. =:P Actually, I'm not sure if you'll know, but that line is a reference to the ad for Lipton in the UK which goes 'once you've tried it, you may discover a liking for other things... like Spandex, Bingo etc etc'. =:)

Heh, my phone's so old it doesn't even have wap. Actually, text messages are at the cutting edge of its abilities. =:P

Date: 2004-07-29 07:45 pm (UTC)Ice Tea is the only tea I'll ever drink... probably for the same reason you all hate it: it tastes nothing like real tea ;P

Actually I probably didn't like it as it *did* still taste vaguely like real tea. I've never been a fan even of normal tea for some strange reason. Perhaps I just need to try a different flavour of this stuff though. Lemon was the only one I could find. =:o

Date: 2004-07-29 10:48 pm (UTC)*chuckles* Well, it's not as though you're missing out on much there though is it. =;) Believe me, checking the LJ comment emails via wap is a right pain. You have to spend ages scrolling through all the original quoted post/comment just to get to the new one. It's made especially worse when you consider it's being charged at 10p per minute. =:o
