As I couldn't really be bothered to do much else, I decided to do some searching for timetables for the bus from Manchester Piccadilly to where my new house will be from next week. After some digging I did find the info I was looking for, but as is so often the case with these things I ended up getting horribly distracted and looking up pointless bits of info too. One of many tidbits I found is that apparently it's possible to get a return ticket between London and Manchester on National Express for £2 if you book in advance online. It beats me how they can actually run a service like that, considering it used to cost me that much just to get from the centre of Manchester to the Longsight Asda (about 2-3 miles). It's either absolute madness, or I'm missing something vitally important here!

Oh, no doubt it's madness. I've also heard someone got a flight to Denmark for just £9... =:-S

Good grief.. presumably excluding airport fees and such, I'd imagine, but still.. ^_^;

I'd forgotten about that National Express (ah, I wish I still had that The Divine Comedy album with a track dedicated to them.. and I still think their version of the Tomorrow's World theme was about the best they had. Before the BBC decided science wasn't something they should tackle outside of OU programming..) offer. Good point! Maybe I'll try wandering along to a London meet someday, even though I'm not terribly fond of appearing in human form.

A friend used to ponder that identically named places ought to have some sort of intrinsic link between them, for instantaneous travel. So, London could hook up seamlessly with its Ontario counterpart, f'rex; though that'd mean Paris would be left with some place in Texas.

Yeah, you can get some really good deals. Mind you, I be mucho happy if they had that sort of deal for trans-atlantic flights >:D

Wishful thinking there LOL!

National Express is okay if you're not in a hurry to get to a place as travelling with them takes an absolute age. I remember coming from one stop along from either Liverpool or Manchester as the coach arrived in Runcorn at 11am. It didn't get into London until about 6pm which is just mad.

Mind you, the National Express station in London looks a bit of a dump, the inside is good but the outside. Not their fault though since it's two buildings. But even so. Takes a long time to get anywhere with them with them going from town to town.

Especially when I didn't get to my arrival point at Portsmouth until after 11pm.

*laughs*

I doubt anyone in Texas would allow anyone from Paris to show up after they refused to help them in the war. Bush would have a fit if that happened >:D

Ah, the good old Ryanair. Yep, cheap flights, no meals, no service, etc.

Oh and you're crammed in tighter than usual. x.x

I'm pretty sure they're the equivalent of what on the railways are called "positioning movements". In other words, they need to move the coaches anyway for later services, so it makes sense to get at least some money out of it by taking passengers.
