Despite the repeated warnings from what seems like everyone about how it would probably mess up my system and spell the end of the world as we know it, I went ahead and installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP yesterday. It took a while, as you're talking 100mb over a 56k connection, but it got there in the end. So far I'm guessing I must be one of the lucky ones, as I haven't encountered a single problem. Windows still runs perfectly, as does all the software installed that I've tried so far. No doubt I'll find a problem eventually, but as of now I'm happy with it. =:) The firewall works (or at least it blocked something earlier) and Media Player 9 works fine (better than it did when I installed it standalone a while back). I haven't tried the pop-up blocking in Internet Explorer, mainly because I use Mozilla all the time, but I did notice when casually glancing in Outlook Express to check my Hotmail account that OE now doesn't automatically download the images in HTML emails. Yay, no more need to hit 'work offline' all the time when opening them! =:)
